1) All PIs and Co-Is on new and competing renewals of projects sponsored by any DHHS agency (NIH, CDC, etc) with a start date of Dec 15, 2003 or later must be certified in the following modules before their spending authority on the new/competing renewals will be given.

a- Foundations
b- Research Administration
c- Conflict of interest
d- Human subjects research (if the project involves human subjects)
e- Animal research (if the project involves animals)

In addition, it is the PI's responsibility to see that all key personnel are appropriately certified.

2) All FIRST TIME PIs and Co-Is of projects by ANY sponsor with a start date of Dec 15, 2003 or later must be certified just as in (1) above before their spending authority on the new/competing renewals will be given.
