Depression Center Section

The University of Michigan Depression Center is the first ever multi-disciplinary center dedicated to research, education, and treatment of depressive and bipolar illnesses. We bring together the world-class resources from the U-M Health System and almost all the U-M Schools and Colleges. The result: a unified approach to diagnosing, understanding, treating—and eventually preventing—depression.

At the core of the Depression Center are our members: researchers and clinicians from throughout the university who contribute to our knowledge literally every day. The Center’s members come from 21 different disciplines, including psychiatry, psychology, neurology, nursing, obstetrics, and even art—leading to unprecedented opportunities to work and learn together. Innovative research projects are constantly underway.
