The General Neuropsychological and Psychological Evaluation Program (GNPEP) provides comprehensive neuropsychological and psychological assessment and intervention services for both inpatients and outpatients, including:
- Children
- Adolescents
- Adults
- Older adults (geriatric)
Adult evaluations center on disorders of cognitive functioning resulting from trauma, medial and neurological disease, vascular accidents, toxin exposure and psychiatric conditions, with particular emphasis on cognitive manifestations of depression, schizophrenia and attention deficit disorder (ADD).
Developmental evaluations concentrate on delivery of services to children, adolescents, and their families, including specific problems in learning and attention/concentration. We pay particular attention to cognitive disorders associated with neurological illness, general medical conditions, attention deficit disorder, learning disabilities and developmental disabilities.
The GNPEP also provides psychological testing services for patients in the Department of Psychiatry Adult Outpatient and Inpatient programs, and for general outpatient and inpatient referrals from the medical center and community. Services include cognitive and personality assessment using self-rating inventories, intelligence tests, objective and projective personality tests and computer-assisted personality assessment.
