Services (UMATS)
No two people are identical, so it makes sense
that no two recoveries are identical. University
of Michigan Addiction Treatment Services
(UMATS) offers assessment, diagnosis and
treatment personalized to your life. Our services
are rooted in the professional and recovering
communities, supported by research, and
delivered with compassion, hope, and respect
for diversity. We are committed to achieving
positive outcomes.
Complete Care
We offer assessments and a full range of therapy options for individuals, groups, couples and families at various times of day and varying levels of intensity.
Understanding addiction and the effects of chemical dependency plays a large part in successful efforts toward recovery—for those with the problem and for their friends and family as well. Education is an important part of your continued recovery
The Road to Recovery
We look at recovery from multiple perspectives,
with the understanding that your physical,
emotional, social and spiritual well-being is
critical to your recovery.
- Individualized plans are developed based on your needs, your responsibilities, and the severity of your problem.
- Recovery plans are developed with family members, friends and others whose lives have been affected by alcohol and other drugs.
- Treatments are based on the wisdom of successfully recovering people, the latest research results, and our professional knowledge to meet each person’s needs. Regardless of the level of treatment, each person is engaged in developing a specific plan for his or her treatment and areas of need.
A Team Approach
Many patients who use or become addicted to substances also suffer from symptoms of depression and anxiety. Staff members are well-trained to monitor these symptoms and refer patients for on-site psychiatric consultation when needed. For patients already receiving mental health care, UMATS works with their community psychiatrist or therapist to coordinate care for both problems.
