Hospital and Community Services Section

Welcome to the Hospital Services Section of the University of Michigan Department of Psychiatry. Our name reflects what we do: adult inpatient psychiatry, adult consultation/liaison psychiatry, emergency psychiatric services, electroconvulsive therapy, and joint psychiatric services with our county's community mental health program, as well as care for psychiatric outpatients with specific disorders. In addition to clinical care in these areas we also provide education for psychiatric residents, medical students, students from several other disciplines, and practicing clinicians in the community. As part of a university medical center, we are also actively engaged in research of relevance to the patients we care for and the disorders we treat. The Division is comprised of more than a dozen faculty and many other clinical and administrative staff, along with our trainees.

Mission

Consistent with the goals of academic medical centers, we are committed to the tripartite mission of patient care, teaching, and research--the creation and dissemination of knowledge and healing of mental disorders.
