Psychiatry Grants Management Office
Prospective Researchers,
In order for us to provide adequate support we are asking that you contact the Psychiatry Grants management Office (GMO) and your respective Section Chief well in advance of the Sponsor deadline. You should discuss space, effort, science, and other needs regarding your research proposal at least 8 weeks prior to the sponsor deadline. After you and your Division Chief have reviewed the needs and arrived at an agreement, the prospective project investigator should send Greg Dalack, Jon-Kar Zubieta, and Sherry Hall a message communicating this agreement, and copy the Division Chief. This message should be e-mailed at least eight weeks prior to a sponsor deadline. This advance notice of 8 weeks prior to the sponsor deadline will allow enough time for the grant to be processed thru the Department, Other Departments (as needed), Medical School, and Division of Research Development Administration.
We have attached a worksheet that outlines the dates needed for the various types of grant proposals. Different sponsors require different lead-times. Mechanisms within the same sponsor require different demands. Those Investigators meeting these deadlines will be guaranteed processing. Those not meeting the deadline may not be processed by the sponsor deadline. Those submitting grants after the deadlines will be serviced on a first come first serve basis. Every attempt will be made to process all proposals, but with the dramatic increase in submissions, investigators not meeting the deadlines will be jeopardizing processing.
We hope this revised policy will provide more thoughtful grant proposals aiding to the cohesive-planning and execution and awarding of grants. If you have any questions, please contact Sherry at 998-6431 or e-mail her at sshall@umich.edu.
